Research Using Library Resources: Starting your research

How to do college-level research with library resources.

Information

Technology has dramatically changed library research in less than a decade.

Where do you find information?

Data continuum

When deciding which type of resources to use, consider the information timeline.  When an noteworthy event occurs, it will appear online (web-based news, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) and on the radio and television news.  The next day, it may appear in print newspapers.  Over the next week or so, it may be mentioned in hard-copy magazines.  Several weeks or months later, scholarly journal articles may cover this topic.  Many months or even years later, the event may be discussed in books.  Several years later, it may appear in reference books.
