Domain Names
Limiting your search to specific domains (.edu or .gov) can remove some of the less reputable websites from your Google searches.
- .com - commercial or business
- .edu - educational institution
- .org - organization (often non-profit)
- .gov - government organization
Google Advanced Search
When searching Google, you can click on the Settings link in the lower right corner to access the "Advanced Search." You can use Advanced Search functions to eliminate some of the "trash" from your search results.
Try these Google Advanced Search Tips and Tricks
Activate Google Scholar
- Go to Google Scholar.
- Click on "Settings" at the top of the page.
- Click the "Library Links" link on the left side of the page and type "Moorpark College" in the "Show library access links for" box.
- Click "Save."
- Start searching in Google Scholar. Google Scholar will provide you with a link to your Moorpark College Library database articles through the Get It at MC Library feature. Click the "Get it at MC Library" link. From off campus, you will be prompted to login to MyVCCCD username and password.
