National Hispanic Month is celebrated from Sep 15 to Oct 16 and honors the contributions of Hispanic Americans in the United States. President Lyndon B.Johnson was the first to designated a week in mid-September that encompassed the dates of Sep 15 and 16, when many Latin American countries and Mexico celebrate their independence. In 1989, President George H. W. Bush designated the weeks from Sep 15 to Oct 15.
