Embedding the Library in Canvas

This guide will help faculty with linking library content into their Canvas courses.

Articles: Permalinks

Permalinks

When you assign course readings, films, and other library resources to your students, you should include the resource's permalink/permanent link/persistent URL to enable quick access and compliance to copyright law. Each database will place the permalink in a different location. Note: Database articles need the proxy prefix added before the permalink.

  • Gale - Click on Get Link near the Citation Tools at the top right of the webpage
  • JSTOR - After clicking on the title of an article, find the URL above the Cite this item button on the left of the screen
  • Proquest Use the URL at the top of the page
  • Elsevier ScienceDirect - Use the URL at the top of the page
  • EBSCO - After clicking on the title of an article, you will be in the item record. Under the right hand side of the screen in the section called Tools, select Permalink  and copy and paste the URL that appears in the box

The Proxy Prefix

The library's proxy prefix is https://moorparkcollege.idm.oclc.org/login?url= and allows resources to be accessed off-campus.

For example, a Academic Search Complete article with the following permalink:

Will need the proxy prefix added to the beginning for it to work:
