Research guide for Dr. Booth's English 1A class

Hello Online Friends!

Hello to Professor Booth's online students! My name is Danielle Kaprelian and I'll be your librarian during your English 1A journey. I'm here to help you through the research process for your papers (and really help out with any other questions you might have). Feel free to contact me using the information below.

I would love to meet you! If you are ever in the library, please stop by the Reference Desk and say "hello" (I pretty much look exactly like the cartoon below).

Speed Dating

I know you all had to create a speed dating profile, so here's mine:

  • Your preferred name: Danielle
  • How you feel about English: I also love English! I actually was an English major in college (UCI) and then went on to get my Master's Degree in Library Science.
  • The last thing you read: I am currently reading a hilarious book by Aziz Ansari titled, Modern Romance. It's all about the landscape of online dating, and for those of you that have seen Ansari on TV, it is loaded with humor. This book has me laughing out loud! It's also pretty informative, especially for people like myself (I met my husband the old-fashioned way - blind date set up by friends - and never got to enjoy the anxious swiping through Tinder). From choosing the optimal profile picture to get dates, to online stalking, this book really covers all the bases.
  • The last song you downloaded: Hmmm - I mainly use music streaming services, but I recently listened to a fun little group called Power Glove from Australia. Their music sounds like 80s retro video games, and I guess the genre is called Synthwave.
  • Anything else you'd like to share: I love being outdoors and previously wanted to be a wilderness guide in Alaska (I actually lived there and trained for a while), but eventually got scared after a couple accidents and decided on a safer job as a librarian!
